Product Notes

Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico `San Marcellino' is a wine that offers a perfect balance of fruity and peppery flavor with a hint of spicy oak. Its rich ruby-red color is complemented by the bouquet of ripe cherries, plums, and blackberries. Made from Sangiovese grapes, this wine is aged in French oak barrels for about a year, which gives it a slight hint of vanilla aroma. The wine features a fine tannic structure with an excellent balance of acidity, offering a long and smooth finish. It pairs perfectly with meats, pasta dishes, and strong cheeses. Overall, Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico `San Marcellino' is a complex and elegant wine that embodies the spirit of Tuscany.

About the Winery

Rocca di Montegrossi

The history of the Rocca di Montegrossi dates back to the sixth and seventh century AD when it was established by Geremia, the founder of the Ricasoli-Firidolfi family during the time of the Longobards. The family has played an essential role in laying the foundation for the Chianti Classico wines. The estate’s strategic location dominates much of Valdarno Superiore and Chianti and has a rich and dramatic history of conquests, destruction and rebuilding.
