Product Notes

Tasca d’Almerita - Tenuta Regaleali Rosso del Conte is a highly-regarded Italian red wine. Made from a blend of Nero d’Avola and Perricone grapes, this wine has a deep ruby-red color and a complex aroma with hints of dark, ripe fruit and spices. On the palate, it is elegant and full-bodied with a balanced acidity and flavors of blackberry, cherry, and chocolate. The grapes are grown in the mineral-rich soil of the Regaleali estate in the center of Sicily, and the wine is aged in oak barrels for at least 18 months before bottling. This is a sophisticated wine that pairs well with hearty meat dishes, aged cheeses, and dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes

Scorched soil, leather, mature black-skinned fruit and Mediterranean scrub are just some of the aromas you'll find on this blend of Nero d'Avola and Perricone. The enveloping, full-bodied palate delivers ripe blackberry, black cherry, black spice and dried herb alongside firm, fine-grained tannins

About the Winery

Tasca d’Almerita - Tenuta Regaleali

Based in Sicily in Italy, Tasca d’Almerita has a rich history dating back to as early as 1830. During this time, the family purchased Tenuta Regaleali, a 500-hectare vineyard, right in the middle of the Sicilian Island. 8 generations of this family are running the estate, and over the years, the Sicilian style of authentic winemaking is kept intact in the wineries here.

The mountains, greenery and the diurnal temperatures of this region make this vineyard one of the most unique ever. The place is replete with diverse soil qualities, which has helped to grow almost 25 green and white varietals across 382 hectares that are under the vine currently.

In 2000, Alberto Tasca, the eighth generation member of the prestigious Tasca family, expanded his family’s rich winemaking legacy in Sicily's four premium winegrowing regions. These regions included:

  • Tenuta Capofaro located in the Aeolian Island
  • Tenuta Tascante on the Mt. Etna volcano
  • Tenuta Whitaker on the Phoenician Island
  • Tenuta Sallier de La Tour in Monreale DOC

Tenuta Regaleali began making its first wines in the 1830s, when the Tasca brothers bought it as a green oasis. Initially, a light, white wine, a medium-bodied red wine and a trusted rose wine were produced in this estate. In the next few years, the estate started growing many indigenous grape varietals, in addition to the usual Bordeaux varietals.

The estate stretches to over 600 hectares and is home to 12 different soil qualities. With varying altitudes of the vineyards found on the mountains here, it is not surprising at all to know that many grape varietals grow here. Currently, the estate is home to Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon, Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco, Perricone, Nero D’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Moscato, Inzolia, Grillo, Grecanico and Catarratto vines. The indigenous grapes grown here are highly popular among wine lovers across the globe.
