Tasting Note

Fermented using a natural 'Pied de Cuve' started in the vineyard, this Chardonnay reveals a fragrant nose of ripe stone fruit and citrus blossom with subtle notes of baking spice provided by fermentation in French Oak. The wine is matured ‘sur lie’ (on yeast lees) adding further richness and texture prior to bottling

Product Notes

Villa Maria's EarthGarden Chardonnay is a fine representation of a modern, elegant New Zealand Chardonnay. This wine is a beautiful pale straw colour and offers a rich, layered aroma of white peach, honeydew melon and toasted hazelnuts. On the palate, this wine surprises with its refreshing acidity that warmly welcomes the spicy oak and buttery notes. The wine also features flavors of ripe grapefruit, nectarine and lime, making it an ideal pairing for seafood dishes, rich creamy pasta or freshly grilled chicken. Overall, Villa Maria's EarthGarden Chardonnay is an exceptional wine that combines elegance, freshness, and balance.

About the Winery

Villa Maria

Villa Maria is New Zealand’s most popular and most awarded winery today. George Fistonich was only 21 years old when he started this wine label. He got 5 acres of land in Mangere, Auckland, from his father, and set about to give wings to his winemaking passion. The very next year, he made his first wine from the grapes planted on this land, and he named the wine, Villa Maria.
