Tasting Note

This wine displays intense black fruit aromatics complemented by cured meat, leather notes, lifted floral elements and savoury wet earth aromatics. The palate presents pure fruit flavours of ripe mulberry, cassis, and liquorice, enhanced by gentle clove and star anise spice. Finely integrated tannins and robust alcohol create a full-bodied wine that is approachable in its youth while possessing excellent ageing potential.

Product Notes

Gabriëlskloof The Blend Walker Bay is a sophisticated, full-bodied red wine that is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Merlot sourced from the Walker Bay region of South Africa. The wine has a deep ruby-red color with aromas of black fruit, vanilla, and a hint of smoky oak. On the palate, the wine is rich and velvety with flavors of black cherry, plum, and cassis, and a hint of dark chocolate in the finish. The Blend has a balanced acidity, firm tannins, and a long, elegant finish. This wine pairs perfectly with grilled meats, hearty stews, and mature cheeses.

About the Winery

Gabriëlskloof

The wines of South Africa are known for their unique nature that reflect the spirit of the terroir and the character of their region where the fruit is cultivated. Gabrielskloof wines are no different. It was during 2001 that Bernard Heyns zeroed in on a farm, Avonturr, located on the outskirts of Botrivier, to realise his aim of creating wines that reflected that richness of their terroir.
