Tasting Note

The 2023 Calvert Pinot Noir is abundantly berry driven on the nose, with ripe summer cherries, mulberry, forest floor, pomegranate molasses and peppercorns. In the mouth, the wine leads with firm tannins, which are laced with Szechuan peppercorns and sandalwood spice and brought into focus by acidity that skirts the edges of brisk but lands gently on juicy. This is a lovely wine, further compounding my affection for the wines of the 2023 vintage on the South Island. - Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate 95/100

Product Notes

Felton Road Calvert Pinot Noir is a stunning expression of Central Otago, New Zealand. This wine offers a brilliant ruby color and a captivating nose of ripe red berries, violets, and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is elegant and refined with a silky texture and well-integrated tannins. Flavors of wild strawberries, cherries, and hints of earthiness unfold with each sip, leading to a long, lingering finish. This wine showcases the unique terroir of the Calvert Vineyard, with its cool climate and schist-rich soils. It is a true reflection of Felton Road's commitment to producing exceptional Pinot Noir.

About the Winery

Felton Road

Felton Road, in New Zealand, is one of the few wineries that give a lot of focus to the lands where the vines are grown. Bannockburn, located in Central Otago, was one of the first places identified by the founders and the winemaking team to set up their vineyards. Felton Road makers understood the potential of this place because it was one of the warmest in this region.
