Product Notes

Bodega Aleanna El Enemigo El Barranco Single Vineyard Bonarda is a bold and rich red wine hailing from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina. The Bonarda grape, a lesser-known varietal in the wine world, shines in this single vineyard expression. On the nose, aromas of blackberry, plum, and black pepper are prominent. The palate is full-bodied and complex with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and oak. The tannins are firm yet well-integrated, providing a long, lingering finish. This wine pairs perfectly with hearty meat dishes or strong cheese and charcuterie boards. Overall, the Bodega Aleanna El Enemigo El Barranco Single Vineyard Bonarda is a must-try for wine enthusiasts.

About the Winery

Bodega Aleanna

It was during the year 2009 that historian Adrianna Catena and soils engineer Alejandro Vigil decided to create a wine brand that would represent the true culture, tradition and history of Argentina. That’s how the El Enemigo Wine Brand was formed. Located in the wine-rich area of Mendoza in Argentina, the El Enemigo wines are made from the grapes cultivated in the region of Piedemonte al Sur, situated at the base of the Lujan de Cuyo. The unique soil and climate of this region have made this one of the best wine growing places in Argentina.

El Enemigo Malbec is one of the most popular wines of this brand. The Malbec grape varietal is considered to be so important to this brand that Alejandro Vigil has a tattoo of this varietal on his arm. This wine is made from 89% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot grape varietals. While the Malbec variety for this wine is cultivated in the vineyards of Gualtallary, the Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varieties come from the vineyards of Tupungato.

True to its nature and culture, this brand doesn’t use any artificial substances for fermentation for any of its wines. Only natural, wild yeast is used for fermentation in this Malbec wine as well. The vinification process involves 30 days of maceration. This wine is quite loved by all wine lovers because it is not heavy at all. It has a high acidity level and comes with 13.9% alcohol. All three varietals of grapes used for making this wine are cultivated in deep calcareous and rocky soil. This soil ensures that the fruits grow on it are full-bodied and highly acidic.  Cabernet Franc, Syrah-Viognier, Chardonnay and Bonarda are some of the other popular wines crafted under this brand.
