About the Winery

Bodegas Emilio Moro

The history and story of Bodegas Emilio Moro continues over three generations of the Moro family. The first generation, born in 1891, and Emilio Moro, his son, born in 1932, came from a family and environment invested in viticulture and vinification. The father and son grew up among vineyards, harvesting grapes and making wine in their native town of Pesquera de Duero in the Valladolid province. Their surroundings imbued in them the requisite knowledge, skills, and talents to establish and manage their distinct winery.

In the third generation, Emilio Moro taught Emilio, his son, about the art and craft of wine. The former instilled in the latter a love and passion for winemaking. In turn, Emilio passed down to Javier and José, his two sons, all his knowledge and know-how in viticulture, vinification, and the happenings of the wine industry. Today, the two brothers manage and handle the Bodegas Emilio Moro using the wisdom and erudition given to them, collected since the family’s first generation.
Javier and José implement traditional yet modern techniques and methods to manage the winery. They have planted several superior varieties and categories of grapes in the vineyards owned by Bodegas Emilio Moro. It includes Tinta del País Centenaria cultivated over an expansive land of over 200 hectares.

Bodegas Emilio Moro considers its parcels and terroirs its top priority. For that reason, the workers, staff, and employees pay careful attention to the fields, ensuring that the natural qualities and attributes of the lands do not get destroyed in any manner. For instance, the winery uses environmental-friendly methods. On the other hand, it prevents artificial irrigation systems because it believes such an approach can harm the vines’ personalities. It, in turn, allows Bodegas Emilio Moro to grow pathogen-free, virus-free, robust, and healthy grapevines that bear excellent fruits.
