This Cabernet Franc has a deep, dark red colour. On the nose, it has bright aromas of pure black fruit with a hint of vanilla. The palate is refreshing with bright acidity and subtle, round tannins, with blackcurrant notes on the finish.

Product Notes

Château Coudray-Montpensier Chinon is a historic castle that is situated in a tranquil valley in the Loire Valley, France. It was originally built in the 14th century and has been lovingly restored to its former grandeur. Visitors will be captivated by the castle's striking architecture with its grey and white stone façade and turrets. The castle boasts a rich history, with past owners including the Duchess of Montpensier, daughter of King Louis-Philippe. The interior is just as impressive as the exterior with a large oak staircase, grand reception rooms and elegant period furnishings. The castle's vineyards also produce some of the finest Chinon wines. It's a must-visit destination for history buffs and wine enthusiasts alike.

About the Winery

Château Coudray-Montpensier

Though the exact origin of the Chateau du Coudray is not known till now, official records state that this estate could have been in existence from 1242 onwards. Jean de Miremande was the authorized owner of this estate, as per records. After that, many prestigious winemaking families took control of the estate, and introduced many viticultural practices here. Today, this estate's beautiful architecture and the vineyards' fertility are mainly because of the boom that the country experienced in the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
