Tasting Note

Youthful in colour with a dark, deep red core unwinding into a bright and lively garnet rim. Forthcoming nose with expressive red and black fruit flavours. Beyond these initial ripe fruit flavours, there is complex collection of savoury dried-herb flavours intermingled with lingering notes of white pepper, blackcurrant and cedar. The dark fruit and distinct savoury notes on the nose follow effortlessly onto that first sip where elegant, velvety tannins grip the palate in a vibrant intensity of flavour. This incredible richness and concentration of fine-grain tannins is further echoed by an earthy minerality and the wine’s inherent freshness brings about a long, well-defined finish. This opulent, full-bodied wine possesses old world authenticity with its delicate herbal fynbos notes that reign in the powerful fruit flavours.

Product Notes

Constantia Glen Three is an exceptional wine blend crafted from three of the finest grape varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. This steadfast wine is a testament to the winery's dedication to producing top-quality blends. It boasts a deep ruby color with a complex bouquet of black cherries, plums, and cassis alongside hints of spice, vanilla and oak. The palate is full-bodied with rich flavors of dark fruit, cocoa and tobacco, beautifully integrated with fine tannins and balanced acidity. Enjoy a glass of Constantia Glen Three with hearty red meat dishes or mature cheese, and experience a harmonious symphony of flavors and textures.

About the Winery

Constantia Glen

The origin of Constantia Glen dates back to 1685. It got established when Simon van der Stel made his first wine on his farm named Constantia. Lying in the valley of the same name, the wine estate is one of the most reputable ones in South Africa. The Constantia farm remained a possession of its founder, Simon, for as long as he was alive. After he passed away in 1712, the property got split into three parts. In recent times, they go by the name of Klein Constantia, Buitenverwachting, and Groot Constantia.
