Tasting Note

Aromas of wild berries and forest floor mingle with notions of grilled game and raw cocoa in a complex bouquet, framed by cedary new oak, introducing the 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Porrets Saint Georges. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and decidedly velvety for a young Clos des Porrets, with ripe tannins, tangy acids and a long, succulent finish.

Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-St-Georges Clos des Porrets St.Georges 1er Cru is a red wine produced in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation in Burgundy, France. The wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown in the Clos des Porrets vineyard, one of the best 1er Cru sites in the region. The wine showcases a deep, dark color and aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, leather, and spice. The palate is full-bodied with a rich texture, and fine tannins that lead to a long, complex finish. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, which adds depth and complexity to the wine. This wine is a perfect match for roasted meats, game, or strong cheeses.

About the Winery

Domaine Henri Gouges

Located right in the centre of the Cote d’ Or in the Nuits Saint Georges village, the French wine company of Domaine Henri Gouges is a family-owned estate that was established in 1920 by Henri. After his retirement, his sons took over the control of the estate. Today, the young generation of Gregory and Antoine Gouges are at the helm of affairs at the estate. The Gouges family is known for making one of the best bottled burgundies in France. Ever since its inception, this brand always focused on respecting the land and the environment. Therefore, extreme care is taken to follow sustainable viticultural practices in the vineyard. In the year 2007, a smart winery was built by the family to ensure that minimal intervention is allowed in the distance from the vineyards to the bottle at the winery. Gravity-flow system was introduced to avoid putting too much pressure on the grapes.
