About Bodega Cerrón
Bodega Cerrón is a family-owned winery located in Fuente-Álamo, in the province of Albacete, within the Jumilla Denomination of Origin (DO) in southeastern Spain. The Cerrón family has been cultivating vineyards in the region since 1895, initially selling their Monastrell grapes to local cooperatives. In 2011, the family decided to establish their own winery, focusing on producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of their high-altitude vineyards.
The estate is situated at an altitude of approximately 980 meters above sea level, benefiting from calcareous soils and a continental climate. These conditions contribute to the production of wines with balanced acidity, fruit expression, and mineral character. The family practices organic and biodynamic viticulture, emphasizing sustainability and minimal intervention in the winemaking process. This approach includes hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and the use of large oak foudres and concrete vats for aging.
Under the guidance of Juan José Cerdán and his siblings, Bodega Cerrón has revitalized abandoned vineyards and produced wines that showcase the potential of the Jumilla region. Their commitment to quality and tradition has garnered recognition, with several of their wines receiving high ratings and acclaim in the wine community.
