About Bodega Tamerán

Bodegas Tamerán is a modern and highly regarded winery located on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands, Spain. It was founded in 2019 by former professional footballer David Silva, who wanted to celebrate and promote the island’s unique wine heritage. Silva is the owner and driving force behind the project, while the winemaking is overseen by Jonathan García, a respected Canary Islands winemaker known for his expertise with indigenous grape varieties.

The estate is situated in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, on south-facing slopes at altitudes of 600–700 meters. Its vineyards cover roughly six hectares, planted mostly with native varieties such as Verdello, Marmajuelo, Baboso Blanco, Vijariego Blanco, Malvasía Aromática, and Malvasía Volcánica. The soils are sandy and volcanic, giving the wines a distinctive minerality.

Tamerán focuses on organic viticulture and low-intervention winemaking, using native yeasts and gentle aging to emphasize freshness, terroir, and the volcanic character of the island. The winery’s first harvest in 2020 was vinified off-site, with dedicated facilities opening for the 2021 vintage. In a short time, Tamerán has gained critical acclaim, earning recognition for producing wines that showcase the Canary Islands’ unique viticultural identity.
