Tasting Note

The nose offers classic aromas of black cherries, dark plums and mushroom with subtle, earthy whiffs of dried leaves and potting soil. Wild berries, damson and the sous-bois character of the nose follow through onto a powerful palate with good structure and weight and delicate hints of tarragon, dill and cedar. Lively tannins are perfectly balanced with bright acidity and exceptional fruit concentration, creating finesse and complexity. Red liquorice, cardamom and clove linger on a smooth, mouth-watering finish.

Product Notes

Boekenhoutskloof Cap Maritime Pinot Noir is a South African red wine known for its excellent quality and rich flavor profile. It is produced by one of the country’s most renowned wineries and is made with grapes grown on the steep slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains. The wine is deep garnet in color and has complex aromas of red fruit, spice, and earthy tones. On the palate, it is refined, elegant, and well-balanced, with notes of ripe cherries, raspberry, and vanilla. The tannins are soft and integrated, giving way to a long and lingering finish. Boekenhoutskloof Cap Maritime Pinot Noir pairs well with a variety of dishes, including roasted lamb, grilled salmon, and mushroom risotto.

About the Winery

Boekenhoutskloof

Founded in 1776, Boekenhoutskloof remains located in the extreme and furthest corner or edge of the breath-taking Franschhoek Valley in South Africa. The winery’s name refers to the ravine of a Cape Beech tree indigenous to the area, known as Boekenhout. The tree has always been a prized material making high-quality furniture.
