Brancaia

Brancaia is a renowned Tuscan wine estate located in the heart of Chianti Classico, with properties in Castellina and Radda in Chianti between Florence and Siena, as well as a coastal estate in the Maremma near Grosseto. The winery was founded in 1981 by Swiss couple Brigitte Widmer and Bruno Widmer, who purchased and restored a neglected Tuscan property with the ambition of producing top-quality Chianti Classico. Early critical success quickly established Brancaia as a rising star in the region.

Ownership remains with the Widmer family, and since 1998 their daughter Barbara Widmer has led winemaking and estate management. Under her direction, Brancaia has expanded to around 80 hectares of vineyards, now farmed organically and with a strong sustainability focus.

The portfolio includes refined Chianti Classico and Riserva wines based primarily on Sangiovese, alongside acclaimed Super Tuscan blends. Flagship labels such as Il Blu and Ilatraia combine international varieties with Tuscan character, producing structured, elegant wines known for purity of fruit, balance and ageing potential.
