Tasting Note

In 2017, Stellenbosch formed the heart of our winemaking, with Fijnbosch contributing an intense core of citrus, orange blossom, toasty brioche, and peach. From Robertson, the E. Bruwer vineyard enriched the blend with ripe peach and apricot, delivering a full, rounded mouthfeel. Kaaimansgat and Vleiplaas completed the composition, the former adding defining minerality to the back palate, while the latter introduced a subtle herbal note and vibrant acidity, creating a Chardonnay of refreshing precision and elegant balance.

Product Notes

Capensis Chardonnay is a premium South African wine that embodies elegance and sophistication. Made from meticulously selected grapes grown in the Western Cape, this Chardonnay showcases a beautiful balance of fruity and floral notes. The wine has a bright golden hue and a complex bouquet of citrus, tropical fruits, and subtle hints of oak. On the palate, Capensis Chardonnay offers a crisp acidity, creamy texture, and a long, lingering finish. It is a versatile wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes, making it the perfect choice for special occasions or simply enjoying a luxurious evening at home.

About the Winery

Capensis

Capensis, meaning “from the Cape” in Latin, is a boutique South African winery dedicated exclusively to Chardonnay. Established in 2013 by Barbara Banke of Jackson Family Wines in partnership with the late Graham Beck’s estate, Capensis set out to showcase the world-class potential of Chardonnay from the Western Cape. The heart of the operation is the high-altitude Fijnbosch vineyard in the Banghoek Valley of Stellenbosch, where 8 hectares of vines grow on steep, well-drained clay soils.
