Château Septy Winery originates from about 1850 when Jean-Pierre Leclerc, an enthusiastic vigneron, realized that the site had unique potential. With absolute devotion and knowledge, he set up a business that could be said to have paved the way for what became renowned for its quality.

Leclerc's vision was to produce wines that were authentic expressions of his terroir. He started this with a methodical selection of quality grapes and a conventional winemaking process, which are still important for the modern Chateau Septy Winery as a legacy.

For years since its establishment, Chateau Septy has undergone different ownership transitions, each leaving its distinctive mark on the winery's heritage. The second generation to continue in the family business is Alexandre Leclerc who took over the business in 1892, after the demise of his father – Jean-Pierre Leclerc. Likewise, Alexandre was forward-looking and created new methods that were on the way to perfection to increase the fame of the domain Chateau Septy.

The eye-catching attention was made by Bernard Dubois, a well-known wine producer from Bordeaux at the beginning of the 20th century at Chateau Septy Winery. He saw the huge talent in the winery and bought and the turnaround point for the winery comes from here. Through the efforts of Dubois, Chateau Septy Winery witnessed immense expansion which included upgrading of winemaking facilities and wide-scale re-plantation.

Following the retirement of Bernard Dubois, he was replaced by Pierre Dubois who became the director of Chateau Septy. As an expert in viticulture, Pierre built on what he had learned from his father in crafting great wines that were environment-friendly. It led to prestigious awards for the Chateau Septy Winery and international recognition for this dedication.

Even today Chateau Septy is the mark of excellence in the wine industry in France. The Martel family, which took over the winery and the château in 1998, follows an integrated approach between modernity and tradition. The Martel family continues to maintain the pride, integrity, passion, and expertise in wine-making that has been passed down through generations.

Chateau Septy Winery practices sustainability while cultivating vineyards concerning the natural environment. Winemakers are very careful with all matters in winemaking including vineyard management, hand-harvesting, and soft processing. This careful methodology results in a bottled Chateau Sepy wine which carries the imprint of its homeland's soil and captures the real nature of the grains.
