About Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot

Nestled in the heart of Vosne-Romanée, in Burgundy's prestigious Côte de Nuits, Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot stands as a benchmark for traditional, terroir-driven red Burgundy. The estate traces its roots to the 17th century, when the Confuron family were renowned vignerons specializing in sélection massale – a practice they pioneered, even lending their name to a celebrated Pinot Noir clone, "Pinot Confuron."

The modern domaine was formally established in 1964 through the marriage of Jack (Jacques) Confuron and Bernadette Cotetidot, uniting two historic viticultural lines. Today, it spans approximately 11-12 hectares of prime vineyards across Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, and Nuits-Saint-Georges – one of the few estates producing village-level wines from all four appellations, alongside coveted Premier Crus (such as Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots) and Grands Crus (including Echézeaux, Charmes-Chambertin, and Mazis-Chambertin).

Currently directed by brothers Yves and Jean-Pierre Confuron – both trained oenologists – with their parents Jacky and Bernadette still actively tending the vines, the family upholds uncompromising standards. The vineyards, farmed organically (though uncertified) without synthetic chemicals, feature old vines averaging 65 years, yielding profoundly mineral expressions.

Winemaking remains resolutely old-school: late harvests for phenolic ripeness, 100% whole-cluster fermentation, extended macerations (2-3 weeks), and long élevage (18-24 months) in oak (10-50% new, depending on cuvée). Bottled unfined and unfiltered, the wines are powerful yet elegant – intense, spicy, structured Pinots with remarkable aromatic depth, freshness from stems, and exceptional aging potential (often peaking after 10-20 years). Confuron-Cotetidot embodies Burgundy's soul: profound, authentic, and timeless.
