About Ocampo
Ocampo is a boutique winery located in the Tacoronte-Acentejo appellation in northern Tenerife, where steep slopes, Atlantic influence, and volcanic soils create uniquely expressive wines. The estate sits between 280 and 400 meters above sea level, with vineyards planted largely on ungrafted, old-vine stocks of native Canarian varieties. These are cultivated using sustainable, low-intervention methods that emphasize soil health and traditional training systems such as cordón Royat.
The winery’s modern chapter began when respected Canarian winemaker Jonatan García Lima launched the Ocampo project as a small, terroir-focused label. Although rooted in a long local viticultural tradition, Ocampo represents a contemporary vision: minimal intervention, organic farming principles, and a deep commitment to preserving the character of Tenerife’s indigenous grapes. The project is supported by the López Arvelo family, long-time growers in the region.
Ocampo produces a focused range of wines, showcasing the distinctive personality of Tenerife. The whites are centered on Listán Blanco and traditional Vidueño blends, fermented with native yeasts and aged on lees in large oak vessels to build texture while maintaining tension and purity. The reds feature Listán Negro and Vijariego Negro, crafted with gentle extraction and aged in concrete or foudres to highlight their fragrant, volcanic-mineral profile.
The result is a collection of elegant, precise wines that capture the identity of Tenerife’s volcanic landscape.
