Tasting Note

In the Olearia glass, the wine is lighter in colour and more mineral on the nose, with graphite, dried bay leaf, hints of scratched licorice, cracked white peppercorns and pomegranate molasses. In the mouth, the wine is silky and restrained, with fruit, yes but tannins most clearly. This is gritty and chalky at once, with a mineral splay of texture through the finish—the tannins drag the flavour through the long finish. Very impressive wine here. - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate) 94+ Points

Product Notes

Prophet's Rock Olearia Pinot Noir is a stunning expression of Central Otago, New Zealand terroir. This vibrant and complex wine showcases the unique characteristics of the region, with layers of ripe red fruit, floral notes, and a hint of spice. The nose opens with aromas of cherry, raspberry, and rose petal, while the palate reveals flavors of plum, blackberry, and a touch of clove. The wine is elegantly structured with refined tannins and a lingering finish. Perfect for pairing with roasted duck or grilled salmon, this Olearia Pinot Noir is a true standout in the world of New Zealand wines.

About the Winery

Prophet's Rock

The New Zealand wine brand of Prophet’s Rock is considered to be one of the most premium categories in the Central Otago region. It was established in 1999 with the sole aim of creating unique wines that were never tasted before in this region. Today, the Prophet’s Rock label makes use of only three grape varietals – Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, grown in its own estate, to create its wines.
