Tasting Note

The most famous of the Ultreia single vineyards, Valtuille 2021 shows a refined mix of graphite, red fruits and flowers, stones, powdered earth and a firm, concentrated core. We have followed this wine from barrel to bottle and it has put on weight and grown in stature post-bottling. It now presents a more serious persona that, as every year, will repay a decade or so in the cellar. Produced from 120 year-old vines in the Las Villegas vineyard.

Product Notes

Raúl Pérez Ultreia de Valtuille wine is a Spanish red wine that embodies the essence and tradition of the Bierzo region. Crafted by the renowned winemaker Raúl Pérez, this wine showcases the unique character of the Mencía grape varietal. With a deep garnet color, it offers intense aromas of ripe blackberries, cherries, and violets, accompanied by subtle hints of earth and minerals. On the palate, it reveals a perfect balance between fruitiness and acidity, with smooth tannins and a long, elegant finish. This wine is a true reflection of the terroir, showcasing the authenticity and richness of the Bierzo region. It pairs excellently with hearty dishes such as grilled meat, stews, and aged cheeses.

About the Winery

Raúl Pérez

Raúl Pérez is a unique winery that, unlike traditional wineries, changes and modifies its brands, wine types, and vineyards according to the varying factors of nature and its creator’s creativity. Its venture starts with a link between the owner Raúl Pérez and Castro Ventosa. The latter was a family-owned winery in Valtuille in Leon’s Bierzo region. The wines there inspired the aspiring oenologist and winemaker, leading him to develop and create his winery.
