Tasting Note

This wine is deep ruby in colour. On the nose, aromas of clove and subtle white pepper mingle with juicy blackberry and plum fruit. Full-bodied and rich, the palate displays well-integrated oak and smooth, structured tannins. Chakalaka, a Zulu word that implies togetherness, refers to a South African blend of spices, used to add flavour to local dishes. This wine is inspired by the unique combination of flavours.

Product Notes

Spice Route Chakalaka is a versatile South African condiment that adds flavor and texture to any dish. This exquisite blend of roasted spices and vegetables is made with a mixture of red and green peppers, carrots, onions, garlic, ginger, and chilies. The ingredients are slowly cooked and then ground together to produce a thick and fragrant sauce that can be used as a dipping sauce or marinade, or mixed with meats, vegetables or noodles. Spice Route Chakalaka offers a unique taste profile and packs a punch of heat, making it a perfect complement for savory dishes like grilled chicken or roasted vegetables. This fiery condiment is a must-have for any foodie and spice-lover who can't resist a little bit of heat!

About the Winery

Spice Route

The Spice Route Winery has been named thus because it was established by the Spice Boys in 1997 in South Africa. The winery was a result of many brains in the South African wine market namely Charles Black from Fairview, John Platter (a journalist by profession), Jabulani Ntshangase from Spier and Gyles Webb from Thelema.
