Tasting Note

The 'Iron' is the fullest bodied of Mullineux's Single Terroir Syrahs. On the nose, it is spicy and savoury, with dark berries. The palate has soft and velvety - yet firm - tannins with hints of orange peel, cloves and white pepper. The wine is brooding, dense and alluring with a fresh and long finish.

Mullineux Iron Syrah is a deep, ripe and powerful red wine that originates from the stunning Swartland region in South Africa. It boasts a rich nose of plum, dark fruit and fresh herbs, followed by a full-bodied palate of dark cherry, blackcurrant and earthy spices laced with a hint of pepper. The wine has high levels of tannins and acidity, which are perfectly balanced, and the oak aging adds richness and complexity to the final product. Mullineux Iron Swartland Syrah is a wine that is perfect to drink now but also has potential to age for the next 10 years. This wine pairs well with rich stews, grilled meats or anything with robust, earthy flavors.

They put all their winemaking experience into the brand they created, Mullineux, in South Africa’s Swartland region. As soon as Chris and Andrea spotted the terroirs, climatic conditions and the soil qualities of this region, they knew that this was where they wanted to set up their label.
