Tasting Note

A mineral-driven Chenin Blanc, showcasing a pale straw colour with subtle green hues. The nose is lively and pure, offering fresh aromas of green apple, white peach, quince, and a delicate floral touch of hawthorn blossom. Underlying these are intriguing notes of wet stone, crushed chalk, and a whisper of wild honey. The palate is crisp and focused, with bright acidity balancing a textured mid-palate and a lively saline minerality. Flavours of citrus peel, pear, and almond interplay gracefully, culminating in a long, clean, and refreshing finish. A beautifully precise and elegant expression of Montlouis terroir.

Product Notes

François Chidaine Montlouis Sec Les Choisilles is a stunning white wine from the Loire Valley in France. This single vineyard Chenin Blanc is a true expression of the terroir, with the mineral-rich soils imparting a distinct complexity to the wine. The nose is elegant and floral, with notes of honeysuckle and citrus fruits. On the palate, the wine is rich and full-bodied, with flavors of ripe stone fruits, honey, and a subtle hint of spice. The acidity is well-balanced, providing a crisp and refreshing finish. This wine is perfect for pairing with seafood, poultry, or creamy cheeses.

About the Winery

François Chidaine

François Chidaine’s domaine sits in the heart of the Loire Valley, primarily in Montlouis-sur-Loire, right across the river from its more famous neighbor, Vouvray. The winery is based in the village of Husseau (part of Montlouis), with vineyards sprawling over about 45 hectares: roughly 22 ha in Montlouis, 10 ha in Vouvray (including the historic Clos Baudoin), and the rest under the broader Touraine appellation for reds, rosés, and some Sauvignon Blanc.
