Tasting Note

The 2015 Costa Russi nose is generous, floral and sweet with intense aromas of rose and violet, blood orange, red berries, liquorice and turmeric. The palate is fleshy, loaded with red and dark berry notes, such as mulberry, red currant, black cherry. The soft and round tannins balance the good acidity and lead to a wine with a certain volume. It is the most inviting and generous of the three Gaja single vineyards.

Product Notes

Gaja Costa Russi is a red wine that hails from the Piedmont region of Italy. It is a blend of 95% Nebbiolo and 5% Barbera grapes, which are carefully selected and picked by hand. The wine is matured for 12-14 months in French oak barrels followed by an additional 12 months in the bottle. The resulting wine is a beautiful ruby red color with floral aromas and flavors of black cherry, raspberry, and licorice. It has a full-bodied and velvety texture with firm tannins. Gaja Costa Russi is a stunning wine that pairs well with hearty meats and rich pasta dishes.

About the Winery

Gaja

Established in 1859, Gaja is a family-owned winery in Italy. Giovanni Gaja founded this winery, and his great-grandson, Angelo Gaja runs the estate today. The family produces grapes in the 250 acres of vineyards it owns in Italy's popular wine region, Piedmont. This estate is located exactly in the districts of Barbaresco and Barolo.
