Product Notes

Katnook Estate Founder's Block Shiraz is a full-bodied red wine that represents the essence of Coonawarra, Australia. The Shiraz grapes are grown in the estate's rich terra rossa soil that is famous for producing high-quality wines. The wine has a deep ruby color, and on the nose, it exudes aromas of dark berries and plums with a subtle hint of spice. On tasting, it is a combination of alluring flavors of blackberry, chocolate, and oak, with a balanced acidity and soft tannins that linger on the palate. This wine is best enjoyed with hearty red meat dishes and will elevate any dining experience with its rich, complex flavors.

About the Winery

Katnook Estate

The history of the Katnook Wine Estate, located in one of the premium wine regions of Coonawarra, dates back to as early as 1861. This was the time when John Riddoch came to this part of the world and realised the potential of the rich wine styles of the region. He bought large parcels of land to cultivate fruit trees and vines, and named it Woolshed in 1867. Today, it is still used as the barrel room of the Katnook Wine Estate, speaking volumes about this brand’s history.
