Product Notes

Orin Swift Machete is a flagship red wine from California, known for its bold and complex character. It is made from a blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Grenache grapes that are sourced from different vineyards in Napa and Sonoma regions. The wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, which adds a hint of vanilla and spice to the wine. The aroma of dark fruits, blackberries, and blueberries is dominant on the nose, while flavors of raspberries, plum, and dark chocolate are prominent on the palate. The wine has medium tannins and a long, smooth finish. It pairs well with grilled meats, cheese, and charcuterie platters.

About the Winery

Orin Swift

The history and venture of Orin Swift date back to as late as 1995 and begins with winemaker David Swift Phinney. David had been involved in the winemaking business for a long time, working in renowned wineries of the Napa Valley region. The experience and know-how he gained from his hands-on job at these places, including Whitehall Lane and Robert Mondavi Winery, helped him significantly later on to manage Orin Swift. Even as a student, he took up a friend’s offer and visited Florence, Italy. There, he got introduced to the wonders of wine. He also learnt the methods and practices of winemaking, getting him hooked.
