Tasting Note

Aromas of red cherries fused with hints of pine forest and wet earth. The up-front fruit flavours are at the same time silky smooth, punctuated by forest fruits and delicate nuances of clove and peppers. A great all-round wine to accompany diverse foods, ready for drinking although it will repay keeping in bottle for another 3 or 4 years.

Quinta da Fonte Souto Florão Red is an award-winning wine from the renowned Portuguese wine region of Alentejo. This wine is a blend of several grape varieties, predominantly Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Trincadeira, and Syrah, which are carefully selected to achieve an outstanding balance of flavor and aroma. The aging process of 12 months in oak barrels lends the wine a smooth, velvety texture, with a complexity of flavors that includes ripe red fruits, spices, and hints of vanilla. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to red meat, game, and strong cheeses. With its rich flavors and elegant finish, Quinta da Fonte Souto Florão Red is a must-try for any wine connoisseur.

Portugal-based wine company, Symington owns many wine estates in the country, making it one of the biggest in the country. The Quinta da Fonte Souto is Symington’s first estate outside the premium Douro region. Located in the Alto Alentejo region in the southern part of Portugal, this estate is close to the Sao Mamede range, which keeps the place cool at all times. The microclimate of this region and the schist & granite soils of this place make the fruits intense and full-bodied.
