Tasting Note

This wine displays a deep maroon colour with a vibrant edge. The nose leads with classic graphite notes, briary fruits interwoven with aromas of five spice and the faintest hint of dried porcini. There is a freshness underscoring these aromas with hints of dark cherry, red currant and fynbos scrub - a classic expression of Simonsberg Cabernet. The palate is pleasantly full bodied with flavours mirroring aromas all leading to a multitextured finish

Tokara Reserve Collection Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich and complex red wine that stands out for its intense aromas and flavors. Produced by the renowned South African winery, this wine is made from hand-selected grapes grown in the premium vineyards of the estate. The nose is dominated by dark fruit such as blackcurrants and blackberries, along with hints of cedar and tobacco. The palate is full-bodied, with layers of ripe fruit, rich tannins, and a long, smooth finish. This wine can be enjoyed now or can be cellared for several years to come. Overall, Tokara Reserve Collection Cabernet Sauvignon is a superb example of South African winemaking excellence.

About the Winery

Tokara

Tokara is a major player in the south African scene and is owned by GT Ferreira. He founded a financial company, RCI which then merged with rand merchant back in 1985. GT Ferreira got a property in Simons Berg Mountain in 1992, where Gyles Webb, his neighbour, advised him to plant some vines on his property. This is where Tokara was bone. In 1998, the first vines were planted on the property, and the first wines were introduced in 2001 under the Zondernaam label. This went on until the best quality was achieved to produce Tokara wines. The first Tokara wine was made in 2005.
