Tasting Note

This barrel-fermented Chardonnay is crafted from grapes grown on ancient granite soils. The wine unveils a lemony yellow-green hue and the character weaves together notes of zesty citrus, spice, delicate citrus blossoms and a hint of buttered toast.

Product Notes

Vergelegen Estate Reserve Chardonnay is an exquisite wine that calls for celebrations and special occasions. This Chardonnay grape variety has its origin in Bordeaux, France, and has found a perfect home in the Vergelegen Estate vineyards of South Africa's Western Cape region.

This estate reserve Chardonnay is vibrant with bright lemony hues and a complex bouquet of tropical and citrus fruits, vanilla, and subtle oak aromas. On the palate, the wine has a smooth and creamy texture, with flavors of pineapple, peach, and lemon zest combined with a firm acidity that provides a refreshing and lengthy finish.

Vergelegen Estate Reserve Chardonnay is a delicious treat that pairs perfectly with lightly spiced seafood, grilled chicken, or rich pasta dishes. It's a wine that will leave you wanting more with each sip.

About the Winery

Vergelegen Estate

Located in South Africa’s Western Cape Province, the Vergelegen Wine Estate has a rich history that dates back to 1700. The Governor of the Cape Province, Williem Adriaan van der Stel, established this estate during that time. By 1798, the Thieunissen family acquired this estate, and started planting many vines here. The family was focused on making wines from here, when the deadly phylloxera virus affected the vines during the 19th century. The wine production, growth of vines and everything else came to a standstill then.
