Product Notes

De Martino Viejas Tinajas Muscat is a unique and exquisite wine from Chile’s De Martino winery. Made from 100% Muscat grapes organically hand-harvested from old vines in the Limari Valley, the wine’s character is a product of traditional winemaking techniques, using clay amphorae, or tinajas, for fermentation and aging. The wine has a brilliant golden color and an enchanting bouquet of wildflowers, honey, lemon, and apricots. On the palate, its texture is smooth, rich, and full-bodied, with hints of caramel and spice. With its balanced acidity and long, mineral finish, De Martino Viejas Tinajas Muscat is an exquisite dessert wine that pairs well with fruit tarts, creamy cheeses, and sorbets.

Tasting Notes

This wine is aromatic and intense with great volume in the mouth and achieves a balance between the fresh acidity and the texture contributed by 6 months’ maceration with the skins. Vinification in amphorae contributes rich texture to the palate and results in a wine with tension, volume and smoothness. Ageing potential of around 10 years.

About the Winery

De Martino

Established in 1934, the Chilean wine estate of De Martino is the result of one person’s dream of making the best wines of his region. Pietro de Martino, a native of Italy, moved to Chile to give wings to his dreams of making unique and stylish wines. He found his answer when he stepped foot in the region of Isla de Maipo. This place was rich in alluvial soils, and it enjoyed a Mediterranean climate, which helped De Martino to make his dream of creating elegant wines, a reality. Today, the estate is run by the fourth generation De Martino family members, with the same passion as the founder.

De Martino wines are classified into various ranges. They are:

De Martino Series

These are classic wines that are created using grapes from different vineyards, based on their terroirs. Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are the varietals used for crafting these wines.

Single Vineyard

These are elegant wines that are made from single parcels of unique vineyards. The wines of this range are made using:

  • Cabernet Sauvignon from La Cancha in DO Maipo
  • Carmenere from Alto de Piedras in DO Maipo
  • Chardonnay from Tres Volcanes in DO Malleco
  • Semillon from La Blanca in DO Valle del Maipo

Itata Series

These wines are made from grapes cultivated in the old and dry farms found on the vineyards along Itata Coast. These vineyards can be found in the southeastern part of Chile. Cinsault, Muscat and Corinto varietals are used for the white and rose wines created here.

Old Vines

These stylish wines represent the true character and elegance of the ancient vineyards where they are harvested from. These old vineyards are located in the Cachapol, Maule and Itata regions of Chile.

Cellar Collection

This is an impressive range of wines that include those that have been personally collected from the De Martino family cellars.

D’Oro

This range consists of a botrytized Semillon wine that is produced only in the Isla de Maipo vineyard.
