Tasting Note

The 2017 Vie Cave shows an intense ruby red in color. The nose is complex and the notes of ripe red fruit fuse, sweetly, with sensations of spices, of cloves, and of vanilla. The wine, is balanced and supple on the palate, persistent and with a finish and aftertaste dominated first by blueberries and red fruit, which then merge with hints of dark chocolate

Product Notes

Antinori Fattoria Aldobrandesca Vie Cave is a beautiful red wine produced by the Antinori Family, who has been producing wines for over 600 years. This wine is made from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grapes grown in the Maremma region of Tuscany, Italy. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, which gives it a complex nose of black cherry, cassis, vanilla, and spices. The palate is full-bodied with a soft, silky texture and flavors of blackberry, plum, and dark chocolate. It has a long finish with well-integrated tannins. Overall, Antinori Fattoria Aldobrandesca Vie Cave is a rich and elegant wine that will pair perfectly with grilled meats, pasta dishes, and aged cheeses.

About the Winery

Antinori Fattoria Aldobrandesca

The Fattoria Aldobrandesca, owned by the famous Antinori family, is located in Sovana, Tuscan Maremma's southern part, in the middle of what is known as the "Etruscan Tuff Zone." Fattoria Aldobrandesca is situated in a region of historical and viticultural importance. With both Etruscan and Roman pasts, the town of Sovanna came under the control of the Lombards, who allotted Savona to the Aldobrandeschi family. It is from the Aldobrandeschi family that the name Aldobrandesca is derived. Later, Pope Gregory VII favoured Sovana with privileges. Siena first got control of the city, and then Florence took over power. Then the town ended up in the hands of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
