Tasting Note

In the glass, this wine is bright gold in colour with a rich, viscous quality. On the nose, it is a complex, enticing blend of dried apricots, lemon pie and orange peel. Velvety mouthfeel and luscious sweetness on the palate are balanced by mouth-watering acidity and purity of fruit.

Product Notes

Mullineux Signature Straw Wine is a highly acclaimed dessert wine made from the finest Chenin Blanc grapes grown on the slopes of the Kasteelberg Mountain in South Africa's Swartland region. The grapes are left to ripen on the vines until late March or early April, at which point they are handpicked and carefully laid out on straw mats to dry in the sun. This process concentrates the flavors and sugars within the grapes. After four weeks, the grapes are gently pressed, and the juice is fermented and aged in old French oak barrels for over two years. The resulting wine is an exquisite golden nectar with notes of honey, apricot, and peach that has a rich, luxurious texture with perfect balance and acidity. This sweet dessert wine pairs perfectly with fruity and nutty desserts.

About the Winery

Mullineux

If you are looking for a taste of authentic South African wines with utmost character and elegance, Mullineux is the right choice for you. These wines are hand-crafted and produced in the rich granite and schist soils based in Swartland, South Africa.  Chris and Andrea worked in many wineries across France, South Africa and California. They put all their winemaking experience into the brand they created, Mullineux, in South Africa’s Swartland region. As soon as Chris and Andrea spotted the terroirs, climatic conditions and the soil qualities of this region, they knew that this was where they wanted to set up their label.
