Product Notes

Glenelly Lady May is a superb Bordeaux blend from the esteemed Glenelly Estate, situated in the heart of South Africa's Wine Country. Named after the founder of the estate, May de Lencquesaing, this wine is a tribute to her immense contribution to the world of wine. The deep ruby-red wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, all sourced from the estate's vineyards, which consist of the oldest vines in the area. The wine exudes aromas of blackcurrant, vanilla, and spice, while the mouthfeel is balanced and smooth. It has an aging potential of over 20 years, making it a great collectors' item as well.

About the Winery

Glenelly

The history of Glenelly dates back to 1783. It was when the first wine with its stamp got released in the market. Located on Simonsberg’s southern slopes in Stellenbosch, the winery’s records start under the ownership and leadership of May-Eliane de Lencquesaing. She realised and recognised the immense potential that the land held and focused all her energy and efforts on developing the estate and its vineyards. After overseeing and managing exhaustive studies on the property and the weather conditions, the founder planted several grape varieties. They consisted of Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Chardonnay.
