Tasting Note

NOSE - The aromatics are dominated by brightly lifted red fruits of cranberry, red currants and rhubarb. Scents of freshly sliced cured meats and black olive tapenade provide a savoury nuance. Underlying spice is derived from oak maturation, evoking sumac and cardamom. PALATE - The enticing aromatics are amplified on the palate. Loose-knit and lacy tannins provide structural foundations, with juicy red fruit acidity giving rise to a balanced medium-bodied wine. Further complex savoury characters of roasted celeriac and fresh vegetable consommé create another level of complexity.

Product Notes

Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Mataro is a classic Australian red wine with a unique blend of Shiraz and Mataro grapes. This medium-bodied wine has an intense dark ruby color with aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, and spicy oak. On the palate, it delivers a rich flavor of black fruit, chocolate, and spice with well-balanced tannins and a long finish. Made with the finest grapes from the Barossa, McLaren Vale, and Padthaway regions of South Australia, this wine is aged in French oak barrels for up to 12 months, which adds complexity and depth to its flavor. Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Mataro is perfect for enjoying with hearty meat dishes or a cheese platter.

About the Winery

Penfolds

Penfolds is a renowned wine producer in Australia. It got established in 1844 in the capital city of Adelaide by Christopher Rawson Penfold. The winery’s story starts when Christopher and his wife, Mary Penfold, shifted from Angmering in West Sussex in the United Kingdom and moved to Australia. After they arrived, their family members helped them attain and acquire 500 acres of land and its estate at the base of the Mount Lofty Ranges.
