Tasting Note

An intense ink with a garnet rim, the wine opens with powerful aromatics of cassis, ripe boysenberry, and chaparral with hints of graphite, sage, fire -roasted meats and fresh brioche. The entry floods the palate with ripe dark fruit flavors of blackberry and black cherries as well as fresh minerality and a touch of kir and crme de menthe. With traces of tannin, the wine finishes with a lingering sweet licorice and a smooth acidity. Overall, this vintage of Papillon truly characterizes the theme bold and massive yet also delicate and complex.

A blend of five different varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, this wine is a harmonious fusion of rich flavors and textures. About the Winery

Orin Swift

The history and venture of Orin Swift date back to as late as 1995 and begins with winemaker David Swift Phinney. David had been involved in the winemaking business for a long time, working in renowned wineries of the Napa Valley region. The experience and know-how he gained from his hands-on job at these places, including Whitehall Lane and Robert Mondavi Winery, helped him significantly later on to manage Orin Swift. Even as a student, he took up a friend’s offer and visited Florence, Italy. There, he got introduced to the wonders of wine. He also learnt the methods and practices of winemaking, getting him hooked.
