Product Notes

Château Laville Sauternes is a renowned wine estate situated in the heart of the Sauternes district in Bordeaux, France. The château boasts a rich history dating back to the 17th century, and its wines have been recognized for their exceptional quality and complexity. The estate spans over 22 hectares of vineyards nestled in the rolling hills of the region, where the grapes are carefully tended to and harvested by hand. The wine is produced using traditional methods, with a focus on allowing the natural sweetness of the grapes to shine through. The result is a luscious and elegant wine with notes of honey, apricot, and candied orange peel, and a beautifully balanced acidity. Château Laville Sauternes is a true gem of French winemaking, representing the perfection of the Sauternes terroir.

About the Winery

Château Laville

Located on the Saint Sulpice Plateau, this wine estate has a rich history that dates back to as early as the late 19th century. Though not much is known about the original owners, what we know is that the Faye family has been in control of the estate since 1956. Today, the younger generation of the Faye family is in control of the estate.

The family maintains a very close and healthy relationship with the local winegrowers and farmers to ensure that they get the best fruits for producing wines under their label. Chateau Laville is spread across an area of 30 hectares and it is hugely benefitted from the diverse soil ranges found in this area. One of the best parts of the Chateau Laville wine estate is that it still follows the ancient Bordeaux style of rich winemaking technique, which is well-rooted in rich tradition and heritage. Apart from the original line of wines, this brand also launched a second wine, Chateau Moulin de Raymond. The wines produced under this label are the following:

Bordeaux Superior Chateau Laville – This is one of the most traditional wines in the Bordeaux regions made using 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet. As per the rich Bordeaux tradition, this wine is vinified for about 28 days before being moved to oak barrels for a year of ageing.

Eximus – This is considered as the flagship wine of Chateau Laville. It is a blend made from 95% Merlot and 5% Malbec varietals. The grapes for this wine are grown in the old vineyards located in Entre Deux Mers area in Saint Sulpice and Cameyrac. The grapes are very carefully selected and harvested for this wine to bring out the firm tannins that it is known for. It is not surprising to note that this wine has been the recipient of many awards not only in France but in the world as well.
