Product Notes

Klippenkop Syrah is a delicious varietal wine that hails from the Robertson Valley in South Africa. It is made from 100% Syrah grapes grown on stony, gravelly soils at the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains. The grapes are carefully handpicked and crushed to extract the rich, dark juice that will form the basis of the wine. The result is a deep, purplish-red wine with complex flavors of blackberries, plums, and spices, with a hint of oak from the aging process. The tannins are firm yet velvety, making this wine an excellent pairing for red meats, hearty stews, or strong cheeses. Klippenkop Syrah delivers a full-bodied wine with a generous finish that lingers on the palate, leaving a satisfying aftertaste.

About the Winery

Klippenkop

Located in the town and region of Robertson, Klippenkop is one of the most famous wineries in South Africa. The chateau got established in 1941 as a venture and endeavour when several families came together with the same aim and objective in the district of Cape Winelands. The winery derives its name from two separate terms- “klippen” and “kop.” The former is a topographical or geographical term that refers to a rock’s outcrop. On the other hand, the latter is a word that means head or hillock in the African language.
