Tasting Note

Oak-aged old vines Tannat, purple-black in colour which could probably age forever, a veritable vin de garde. Black raspberries, blackberries and prunes with astonishingly dense tannins folded into the very structure of the wine.

Product Notes

Domaine Berthoumieu Madiran Cuvée Charles de Batz is a French red wine with a unique blend of Tannat, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This wine is a tribute to Charles de Batz, a heroic figure who inspired Alexandre Dumas's famous musketeer character. With an intense ruby colour, this wine presents aromas of red berry fruits, black cherry, spice and vanilla. The taste is rich, full-bodied and complex, with a smooth tannin sensation and a long finish. This wine is best served with red meat, game and hard cheeses. Domaine Berthoumieu Madiran Cuvée Charles de Batz is a true masterpiece for wine lovers who appreciate full-flavoured and bold wines.

About the Winery

Domaine Berthoumieu

The history and origin of Domaine Berthoumieu go back to as late as the 1850s. The winery was established in Viella town in the department of Gers by Virgile Dutour. After that time, its story was primarily uneventful. Several generations later, Didier Barré and Marie-Line took over Domaine Berthoumieu, around the 1990s. Since then, the winery has been one of the most renowned in France.
