Product Notes

Bodega Garzón Petit Clos `Block 212` Tannat is an exceptional wine that showcases the unique expression of Tannat, a grape that is native to the Basque region of France. This wine is produced in the Garzón subregion of Uruguay, where the cool maritime climate and the mineral-rich soils lend incredible complexity and finesse to the Tannat grapes. The wine is made from carefully selected grapes from the Block 212 vineyard and is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, which adds a beautiful layer of toasted oak and vanilla to the wine. The wine boasts complex aromas of ripe black fruits, toasted spices, and hints of tobacco, leading to a palate that is both rich and elegant with firm tannins and a long, harmonious finish. Bodega Garzón Petit Clos `Block 212` Tannat is a wine that will age gracefully over the years and is an excellent choice for a special occasion or a thoughtful gift for a wine lover.

Tasting Notes

This wine is deep ruby red in colour, with intense aromas of black plums and blackberries. The wine is powerful yet refined, with vibrant fruit, ripe tannins and great concentration.

About the Winery

Bodega Garzón

Located in a scenic territory in Uruguay, Bodega Garzon is one of those wineries where every glass of wine speaks of the country’s unique history of the tradition of making wines. The wineries are found on terrace-like lands, which give them an innovative design. Also, the natural climate of the hills in this region ensure that excellent quality of wines is produced here every single time.

The Bodega Garzon winery is designed in a sustainable pattern, which means, it makes maximum use of natural resources such as wind and climate to produce authentic and historic wines. There are enough facilities in the winery which make maximum use of the wind and photovoltaic energy to produces of the finest quality here.

The concrete tanks that are epoxy-free, heavy-duty stainless steel containers and cone-shaped vats made from truncated oak ensure that the wines are fermented well through a stage process and kept in the ageing area for the required amount of time, so that the resultant wine is a true representation of the hand-picked grapes’ true flavours and character.

The winery in Bodega Garzon has the distinction of being the first sustainable and LEED certified winery outside North America. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) has set up some strict quality controls for wineries to sustain well in their surroundings, creating as little disturbance as possible to their environment. Currently, this Uruguayan winery can produce 2.2 million litres of wine.

The winery was first set up by Alejandro Bulgheroni and wife Bettina. Both of them not only aimed to make this place the producer of premium wines that represented the historical culture of Uruguay, but they were also keen that the place should do full justice to its environment. This is one of the major reasons why they collaborated with experts on viticulture, environmental protection, hospitality & tourism, and gastronomy, before setting up this beautiful winery.
