Product Notes

Bodegas LAN A Mano Edición Limitada Rioja is a premium Spanish red wine that represents the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of the local Rioja region. The wine is made using hand-picked Tempranillo grapes that are carefully selected from the vineyards. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months and then for an additional 9 months in the bottle before releasing it to the market. The result is a wine that is deep ruby in color, with intense aromas of red fruits and spices, and a rich, full-bodied flavor with fine tannins and a long, complex finish. It is an excellent choice for pairing with grilled meats, stews, and hearty dishes.

Tasting Notes

Deep cherry red in colour. On the nose, there are complex aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and blackcurrant married with layers of clove, cocoa, sweet spice and tobacco. This wine exhibits an earthy minerality, a common characteristic of wines made from grapes grown on the ‘Viña Lanciano’ estate. Full bodied and rich on the palate with velvety tannins and a long, harmonious and elegant finish.

About the Winery

Bodegas LAN

The history of Bodegas LAN wines dates back to 1972, the year when the brand set up its winery. LAN stands for Logrono, Alava and Navarra, the three provinces that are part of the DOC Rioja area in Spain. The fact that the brand has the name of its regions is enough to tell you that the wines crafted by it are true representations of the culture and heritage of the regions where they are grown.

The Vina Lanciano vineyard of Bodegas Lan is one of the most breathtaking vineyards in the entire Rioja area. It comprises an area of over 72 hectares and has the beautiful Ebro River at the backdrop. Vines are planted in 24 plots here and this is the area from fruits are sourced to craft the three rare and premium wines of Bodegas LAN – Vina Lanciano, LAN A Mano and Culmen.

This vineyard is very special because it has a diverse range of soil quality and climatic conditions in different plots, which makes it great for growing different varietals such as the Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano.  Sustainable viticultural practices are followed here to ensure that the grapes are hand-harvested and hand-selected before they proceed to the next stage.

A brief profile of the three premium wines of this brand is given below:

Vina Lanciano - made from 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo; fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for about 36 months; considered to be the soul of Bodegas LAN brand

LAN A Mano - made from 80% Tempranillo, 8% Mazuelo and 12% Graciano; fermented in new French oak barrels and aged for 7 months in French oak & 6 months in Russian oak

Culmen - made from 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano; fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks after destemming and aged for 24 months in French oak
