Tasting Note

Bright garnet colour. Intense and expressive on the nose, combining fresh aromas of blueberries and spices. Delicate and complex on the palate, with black cherry flavours and a mineral layer, ending in a long, seductive, velvety finish.

Product Notes

Churchill's Gricha Douro Red is a versatile and bold wine that demands attention. With a deep ruby color, it emanates rich aromas of ripe dark fruit, such as blackberry and blackcurrant, with hints of cocoa and spice. Once tasted, the wine delivers a complex balance of flavors that include juicy plum, black cherry, and tobacco, with a subtle yet noticeable tannin structure in the finish. Harvested from the iconic Quinta da Gricha vineyards in Portugal's Douro Valley, the wine is a blend of traditional Portuguese grape varieties that have been aged in oak barrels for 12 months to give it depth and character. A superb wine that pairs well with red meat, hearty stews, and aged cheese.

About the Winery

Churchill's

Churchill’s is a renowned winery located in the wine region of the Douro in Portugal. Established by Johnny Graham in 1981, the company serves as the last independent and existing British port house in the area. Born and educated in Porto, the youngest son of the Graham family committed himself to learn the craft and art of port-making after his father had to sell their business in 1970. Since he was 20, Johnny worked and toiled in Douro Valley’s terraced vineyards.
