Product Notes

Finca Valpiedra Reserva is a Spanish red wine from the Rioja region. This wine is made from a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, and Maturana Tinta grapes, carefully selected from the winery's vineyards. It is aged in oak barrels for 22 months, giving it a deep ruby color and aromas of ripe black fruit, vanilla, and toasted oak. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and tobacco, followed by a long and persistent finish. Finca Valpiedra Reserva is a complex and elegant wine that pairs perfectly with grilled meats, lamb, and aged cheeses.

Tasting Notes

High intensity, cherry red colour with violet rim. Abundant leg, dense and coloured. On the nose high intensity, with a big complexity and elegance in the aromatic nucleus, the mineral and red & black fruits showing up, incense reminiscences. All this goes together with the fine wood notes from the French oak tree, as vanilla, cedar, mild tobacco and spices. Palate - In the initial phase in mouth, it shows an excellent smoothness and volume, developing a delicate tannic structure which makes it tasty and savoury. The freshness from the Graciano makes it more balanced concerning the alcohol, showing a very long aftertaste and a pleasant final. The aftertaste comes with spicy, fruity and wood notes.

About the Winery

Finca Valpiedra

Finca Valpiedra is a renowned Spanish winery that shows the true spirit and level of entrepreneurship. It started as a project and endeavour of Familia Martínez Bujanda in 1994, who began the construction and establishment using a prestigious family-owned vineyard.

Finca Valpiedra follows a classic and authentic Bordeaux style. It owns a single vineyard and produces four wines. Also, the grapes used in winemaking get sourced exclusively from the estate itself.

Finca Valpiedra is a part or member of the Grand Crus Association of Spain or the Asociación Grandes Pagos de España. It has been so since the beginning. It consists of a small and exclusive group of multiple wineries. They come from all across the Spanish territory. All of them own single vineyards and possess unique personalities. It has the ability and capability to defend the authentic characters and attributes of the country’s terroirs.

The vineyard owned by Finca Valpiedra spreads across 80 hectares of land. It remains located in one of the big meanders created by the Ebro River between Fuenmayor and Cenicero. The exotic location allows the winery to enjoy the spectacular view of the landscape that remains divided and segregated into three terraces.

Finca Valpiedra enjoys a beneficial microclimate that is half-Mediterranean and half-Atlantic. It allows the summers to be sunny and warm, and the winters are long and cold. In turn, it stimulates the production and development of various polyphenols and tannin in the grapes. All these provide colour, longevity, and taste to the produced wines.

The cold and moist breeze that flows through the night prevents the grapevines from dehydrating. Moreover, the risk of frost gets lowered due to the proximity to the sea. Overall, the strategic location of Finca Valpiedra and its suitable microclimate help develop a perfect profile for the winery’s wines.
