Tasting Note

A garnet red colour. Cockburn’s Special Reserve has a youthful nose packed with rich and concentrated red fruit aromas, predominantly red cherry with hints of plum and strawberry. On the palate it's sweet, well rounded, medium length and with luscious red berry flavours leading to a distinctive peppery finish.

Product Notes

Cockburn's Special Reserve Port is a rich and full-bodied fortified wine that is aged for up to five years in oak barrels. The port offers complex aromas of dried fruits, nuts, and hints of chocolate, which intensify on the palate. The sweet and soft tannins provide a smooth and velvety mouthfeel, leading to a long and lingering finish. The unique blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão grapes gives Cockburn's Special Reserve Port its signature taste, making it a perfect addition to any dessert or cheese board. This port has received numerous awards and is a must-try for any wine lover.

About the Winery

Cockburn's

Cockburn’s have been revolutionary in every step of the port-making business. In 1815, two brothers John and Robert Cockburn, directly bought grapes from the farmers in upriver Douro, bypassing the merchant’s fair. In 1969, with the launch of the Special Reserve, the company successfully planted the previously ignored Touriga Nacional in large numbers. Despite their success, they still use some traditional techniques like aging in oat vats. Their different business approach and an uncompromising attitude towards tradition have helped them achieve success in port making.
