Product Notes

Fraser Gallop Cabernet Merlot is an exceptional red wine that hails from the Margaret River region in Western Australia. It is a blend of two of the most popular grape varieties in the area, which are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The winemakers at Fraser Gallop have expertly crafted this wine to produce a rich and complex flavor profile. The wine features intense aromas of dark fruits, chocolate, and cedar. On the palate, it offers flavors of blackcurrant, plum, and mocha with a touch of vanilla. The tannins are firm yet silky, giving the wine a full-bodied mouthfeel. Overall, Fraser Gallop Cabernet Merlot is an outstanding wine that will undoubtedly impress any wine enthusiast.

Tasting Notes

A medium to full bodied and crimson red wine with vibrant ruby hues. Dusty mulberry, red berries, dried bay leaf, currants, sweet cedar nose, new cigar box aroma and some hints of dried herbs. Ripe fresh berry fruits, fleshy tannins but soft and supple. The style of Cabernet Merlot we are making at Fraser Gallop Estate is a wine that has greater freshness from a short time on skins and short barrel maturation and good concentration of flavour that comes naturally from dry grown Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend.

About the Winery

Fraser Gallop

Located in the extremely wine-rich area of Margaret River in Australia, the Fraser Gallop Wine Estate sits majestically on the 165 acres of land in the area of Wilyabrup. The vines are planted at the tallest points of this region and they are all dry-grown.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grape varietals are grown in 17 acres of land each. They are the most widely grown grapes here. You will also find other red varietals that are mostly grown in one of the world’s most premium wine-growing region in Bordeaux in France. All the vines are planted with extreme care to ensure minimal intervention and organic winemaking techniques.

This brand was set up by a couple who was passionate about winemaking – Nigel and Dorothy Gallop. They created this label to make wines that were unique and true representations of the excellent Margaret Valley terroirs, where they were planted. The high-altitude and the ocean breezes help in exposing the fruits to optimal ripeness at all times. This is ideal for the cultivation of Bordeaux-type red grapes such as Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Towards the south of the estate, on the slopes, you can see some white Bordeaux varietals such as Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Like we told you earlier, the Chardonnay is the most planted white varietal here. Don’t miss out the Mendoza clone types of Chardonnay that you can see here in plenty.

The winery that was constructed in 2008, contains a maximum capacity of 300 tonnes of grapes. The French oak barrels used for fermenting these wines are chosen with great care. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends of wines are fermented in specific Bordelais coopers, whereas the Chardonnay wines are exclusively fermented in the Burgundian coopers. The winery’s customized design and modern technology make these wines intense, complex and highly flavourful.
