Tasting Note

This wine showsnotes of raspberry, sour cherry and blackcurrant on the nose, followed by liquorice, rhubarb and leather. The palate is soft, very elegant and well balanced by tannins. The long finish shows a touch of acidity and a great freshness.

Product Notes

Li Veli Askos Susumanielo Salento IGT is a delicious and complex red wine that comes from the Puglia region in the south of Italy. This wine is made from a blend of indigenous grapes, including Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera. The result is a wine that displays a deep ruby color and complex aromas of blackberries, plums, and spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich, with velvety tannins and a long, smooth finish. This wine is perfect to enjoy with hearty meat dishes, such as grilled lamb or beef ragù, but it can also be paired with aged cheese or dark chocolate.

About the Winery

Li Veli

The Masseria Li Veli Winery is located on the historic Messapian area on the Salento Plains of Italy. It was during 1858 that famous Italian economist Antonio de Viti de Marco discovered this place. His sole objective was to develop this area into a state-of-the-art cellar, which would make Italy proud. During 1999, the Falvo family, which had a wide experience in the business of wine-making, developed an interest in these vineyards and took control over the place. Thanks to the family’s single-minded determination and expertise, the place was renovated and it started a new wine culture in the region of Apulia.
