Tasting Note

Complex but with some allure now already, sweet and freshly-scented red berries mixed with woody spices. The palate is gripping, crisply-defined and tense yet there is a certain warmth and generosity, too. Captivating and moreish and brilliantly complete Barolo of both force and finesse.

Product Notes

Marco Marengo Barolo Brunate is a limited-production red wine hailing from the small winegrowing region of Barolo in Piedmont, Italy. This critically acclaimed wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown on the prestigious Brunate hillside vineyard, which is known for producing some of the most exceptional Barolos.

Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, this full-bodied Barolo boasts complex aromas of dark fruit, spices, and violets, with a robust palate of cherry, plum, leather, and tobacco. Its firm tannins and high acidity provide structure for the bold flavors and a lingering finish.

Marco Marengo Barolo Brunate pairs well with hearty meat dishes and strong cheeses, making it a luxurious treat for discerning wine enthusiasts.

About the Winery

Marco Marengo

The Marco Marengo estate was a Marengo family establishment in 1899. The current owner is Marco Marengo, who handles its management with jenny and Stefano, his wife and son; Stefano is a wine technician. The estate vineyards lie on 6 hectares of land. In le Brunate, the estate has 1.2 hectares and another hectare in Bricco delle Viole. Both vineyards have been with the family for 5 generations. In 1974 the first le brunate was bottled. Barolo Bricco Viole had the first Vintage bottled in 1997. Marco is an extraordinary winemaker, and he started in La Morra town in a small cellar. A new cellar was later established, and the first Vintage was vinified in 2011.
