About the Winery

Pago de Carraovejas

Pago de Carraovejas is one of the most respected wineries in Ribera del Duero, known for its deep connection to tradition while embracing innovation. The story began in the 1980s with José María Ruiz, a Segovia restaurateur who dreamed of creating a wine that would perfectly complement his signature dish, roast suckling pig. In 1987, he planted the first vines on the steep hillsides of Peñafiel, and by 1991, the first vintage of Pago de Carraovejas was released, quickly gaining acclaim for its distinctive style.
