Product Notes

Seifried Estate Aotea Méthode Traditionelle is a sparkling wine produced in New Zealand's Nelson region. It is made with a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, which are carefully selected to create a perfect balance of fruit and acidity. The wine is crafted through the traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle, and aged on its lees for at least two years, adding complexity and depth to the final product. The resulting wine has a pale straw color, with aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, and brioche, and a lively and persistent mousse. It is a refreshing and elegant wine, perfect to enjoy on its own or with food.

Tasting Notes

The Aotea Méthode Traditionnelle has grapefruit, warm brioche and buttered toast notes on the nose and the palate is luxurious and generous with full biscuity shortbread notes and a crisp, lasting finish.

About the Winery

Seifried Estate

In 1973, Australia's Hermann Seifried and his wife Agnes decided to pursue their winemaking passion in the region of Nelson, one of the best wine-producing areas in New Zealand. Known for its continuous exposure to sunlight, Nelson, located on top of the South Island in New Zealand, is home to some scintillating vines. With beaches, national parks, lakes and mountains surrounding Nelson, it is not a surprise that Seifried chose this place for growing vines of top quality.

Nelson receives over 2400 hours of sunlight every year, making it grow one of the best Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietals in the world. The wines produced here have gradually gone on to gain international recognition in the recent past. The family owns 325 hectares of vineyards located across locations such as the following:

Redwood Valley Vineyard – It is a 30-hectare vineyard that had its first vines planed in 1979.  Rich and complex varietals of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer grow here in plenty.

Brightwater Vineyard – This is a 70-hectare vineyard, which was set up in 1999. Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Noir, Malbec and Zweigelt grow here.

Eden Road Vineyard – Established in 2006, this 40-hectare vineyard is dedicated to growing large parcels of Sauvignon Blanc. Small lots of Gruner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Merlot can also be found here.

Rabbit Island Vineyard – Set up in 1988, this 60-hectare vineyard is divided into 3 blocks. It has varietals of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.

Queen Victoria Vineyard – Set up in 2013, this 4.5-hectare vineyard grows Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris.

Clover Road Vineyard – Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc are grown in this vineyard, established in 2013.

Red Shed Vineyard – This is a 9-hectare vineyard purchased in 2019. Nelson Sauvignon Blanc grows here.

Lord Rutherford Vineyard – Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay grow on this vineyard's rich soils.
