Tasting Note

First, a bouquet of violets, roses, lavender and pure cassis, followed by a banquet of blackcurrant, fragrant wild strawberry and pitch-black cherry, laid out over sweet cedar, and fine, supple French oak.

Product Notes

Te Mata Estate Coleraine is a classic New Zealand Bordeaux red blend wine known for its complexity and elegance. The wine is made using 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc grapes from the estate's single vineyard. The grapes are handpicked, fermented in small open-top vats, and then aged in French oak barrels for up to 18 months. The resulting wine has a deep, dark color and an aroma of black currant, blackberry, and vanilla. On the palate, it has a full body with complex flavors of black fruit, tobacco, and spice. It has a long finish and can be cellared for up to 20 years. Te Mata Estate Coleraine is a wine that embodies the elegance and finesse of New Zealand's finest Bordeaux-style red blends.

About the Winery

Te Mata Estate

Te Mata Estate is a family-owned wine estate that produces wines from one of the world’s most beautiful and fertile vineyards of New Zealand, Hawke’s Bay. This estate is known for producing wines from grapes sourced from its own vineyards located in a selected spot in Hawke’s Bay. This region is protected by the mountains in the western region, and it experiences an excellent maritime climate with low rainfall. Therefore, Te Mata wines are classy, elegant and true representations of the richness of the terroirs.
