Tasting Note

This densely coloured wine shows lovely aromatics with layers of red and black plum, mingling with cassis, smoky roast coffee bean, dried thyme and complex cedary spice nuances. The palate is soft yet concentrated, with wonderfully fine-grained tannins and integrated oak

Product Notes

Villa Maria Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot is a classic red wine that strikes the perfect balance between power and elegance. Created by blending the two most popular red grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this wine has a deep ruby color with aromas of blackcurrant and dark chocolate. The wine features rich and velvety tannins on the palate with flavors of blackberry, black cherry and a hint of mint. The lively acidity and supple tannins give the wine a persistent finish. The wine is aged in new French oak barrels, and it can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to a decade to achieve further complexity. Enjoy it with beef, lamb, or hearty pasta dishes.

About the Winery

Villa Maria

Villa Maria is New Zealand’s most popular and most awarded winery today. George Fistonich was only 21 years old when he started this wine label. He got 5 acres of land in Mangere, Auckland, from his father, and set about to give wings to his winemaking passion. The very next year, he made his first wine from the grapes planted on this land, and he named the wine, Villa Maria.
